Who we are

Landmatters (Pty) Ltd is a registered property practitioner at 12 Chapel Street, Pietermaritzburg. Our Information Officer is Craig Khumalo, reachable at hello@landmatters.co.za. To see, correct or erase what we hold about you, use the data subject request form.

What we collect

Identity and contact details (name, ID number, phone, email, address), farm and property records (title deeds, SG diagrams, valuations, financial statements relevant to a sale), FICA verification results, communications with us, and website usage data limited to what our booking and assistant features need.

Why we collect it

To assess and manage the sale of your farm, to meet our obligations under the Property Practitioners Act and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, to communicate with you on the channels you choose, and to improve this website. We do not sell personal information.

Direct marketing

We contact prospective sellers only with consent or, for a first electronic contact, with a request for consent and an opt-out in every message. Reply STOP or use the opt-out link to be added to our suppression list, which applies across all channels.

Sharing

With valuers, conveyancers, and the state's departments as needed for your sale; with our hosting and messaging providers under processing agreements; and with authorities where the law requires. Data is hosted in South Africa.

Retention

FICA records for five years after the relationship ends, as the law requires. Deal files for the period needed to defend claims. Website and assistant transcripts for twelve months unless you ask for earlier deletion.

Your rights

Access, correction, deletion where the law allows, objection to processing, and complaint to the Information Regulator. Submit requests to the Information Officer; we respond within 30 days. Data subject requests are logged and tracked in our compliance workflow.

Security

Encryption in transit and at rest, virus scanning of every upload, role-based access with row-level security, audit trails on every document action, and breach notification within 72 hours where required.

The assistant

Our assistant, Msizi, answers from our own published content. Conversations are stored for review and to improve our content. A notice is shown before the first message and you may ask for a person at any time.
