Case study

A 640-hectare Midlands dairy sold as a going concern

PLAS640 hauMgungundlovu17 months

A family dairy near Mooi River, with irrigation and a processor contract, sold to the state for an emerging farmer lease in 17 months.

The challenge

The owners were retiring, the farm had a bond, and the milk contract had to survive a change of operator. Two trustees lived abroad.

What we did

We compiled the file with certified documents from both countries, confirmed the processor's position in writing, and briefed the valuer with three years of production data and an irrigation inventory.

The outcome

The state's offer matched the independent valuation within four percent. The bond was settled on registration and the beneficiary took over milking with the processor contract intact.

Identifying details have been changed at the seller's request. Figures are as recorded on the file.
